About telemedicine

Connect with a provider and get diagnosed and prescribed medication by mobile app or computer from anywhere in South Dakota.

Anyone can make a telemedicine appointment. You will need to download a smartphone app or a computer with internet access. You can schedule your telemedicine appointment with Project Recovery.

Telemedicine appointments are conducted with HIPPA-compliant software. You meet with your doctor face to face but in different locations. Cost is the same. Process is the same. If you are unable to access our physical location, telemedicine is an excellent option to help you get the treatment you need.

What to expect at the first appointment

Whether through an on-site visit or through a telemedicine appointment, our providers first listen to your story and what led to addiction. Based on your past challenges, current needs, and recovery goals, we offer all available options. We do not force any particular treatment or service. Rather, we help make the decision that’s best for you.

Starting medication-assisted treatment & cost

If we agree medication-assisted treatment is the best plan for you, we begin medication. If you have insurance, we authorize your medication with insurance so medication costs are covered. If you do not have insurance, we help you apply for the Indigent Medication Program. If your income is too great for the program, but you have no insurance, we ensure you have the lowest cost option we can identify.

Support during treatment

We then connect you with counseling services, if desired, and arrange ways to manage your medication. During the program, we will assist you in any way possible.

  • Offer as much support possible without associated costs, such as helping with basic functions (i.e. shelter and transportation)
  • Arrange treatment if identified with an infectious disease such as Hepatitis C
  • Referrals to specialty care such as physical therapy or psychiatry

Our ultimate goal is to help you achieve a substance-free life. This is done at a pace that’s safe and comfortable for you. If at any time you relapse during treatment, we do not dismiss you from the program. At your own volition, we accept you back into the program and resume treatment.
