Expanding Access to MAT/MOUD

South Dakota Resource Hotline 1-800-920-4343

The SD Department of Social Services, Division of Behavioral Health (DSS) offers providers FREE resources that support Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) and Medications for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD) capacity building.

Although MAT/MOUD is considered the
best treatment option for Opioid Use Disorder (OUD), often there are multiple barriers, including public misconceptions and lack of availability, that make patient access difficult.

Providers can help South Dakotans impacted by OUD get the help they need by:

  • Getting educated on the facts about MAT/MOUD
  • Sharing information with OUD patients and their families
  • Becoming a resource for other healthcare professionals
  • Expanding facility offerings to include MAT/MOUD

The Division of Behavioral Health can connect providers with clinical experts that have applied experience in the delivery of MAT/MOUD and supporting continuum of care.  If you are interested in learning more about how to expand access to MAT/MOUD in your community, contact DSS below to request more information and connect with a consultant.  Clinical experts are available in-state as well as nationally.
