Peer & Group Support
An important step in recovery is sharing with people who have lived experiences with addiction.
Those familiar with this process provide insight and motivation for overcoming challenges you may face. This approach comes in multiple forms, whether it’s one-on-one peer coaching, group discussions, or creating a community of accountability in a shared home. Each collaboration creates a culture of hope, health, and wellness.
Face It TOGETHER®
Face It TOGETHER® provides professional, confidential peer coaching to people living with addiction, including loved ones.
Participants partner with a certified peer coach—an individual that has lived experience with addiction—combined with training and supervision.
Peer coaching can be used for emotional support, developing effective strategies for behavior change, and learning practical skills to manage your addiction.
There is mounting evidence that peer coaching has many benefits, including reduced relapse rates and increased overall satisfaction with the treatment experience.
Get started on a path to wellness. Schedule a conversation with a peer coach.
- Connect with a coach by video, phone, or in person.
- Financial assistance may be available to cover the cost of coaching for those impacted by opioid addiction.
Oxford House Recovery Homes
Oxford Houses are self-run, self-supported addiction recovery homes where groups of recovering individuals live together in an environment that supports recovery from addiction.
Oxford Houses are based on 3 core principles:
- Must be democratically self-run
- Must be financially self-supported
- Must immediately expel any member who returns to using alcohol or drugs
Individuals living in an Oxford House learn or relearn values, responsible behavior, and over time develop positive long-term habits to assure comfortable sobriety – forever.
Houses are available to both men and women, and women/men with children. All houses are supportive of medication-assisted treatment (MAT) and trained to recognize and respond to an overdose with Naloxone if needed.
Oxford Houses in South Dakota
The South Dakota Department of Social Services is expanding recovery support services through a partnership with the Oxford House Inc. to:

- Aberdeen
- Rapid City
- Sioux Falls
How to Get into an Oxford House
- Call the house to check for a vacancy, or visit the Oxford House Vacancy website.
- Fill out an online application.
- Call a house to set up an interview.
- An individual must be open and honest during the interview.
- An individual must receive acceptance by 80% of the existing residents to be approved.
- Once approved, new members can move in immediately.
Community Impact
Funding from the SD Department of Social Services to support Oxford Houses contributes to making people productive citizens, reduces homelessness, and prevents relapse.
The success of long-term recovery is possible. As we reduce the number of relapses:
- The cost of incarceration and homelessness drops.
- Oxford House has a 90% success rate after 12 months.
- The number of alcohol/drug related crimes, like family physical abuse, drops.

ReNew, Bethany Christian Services
ReNew (Recovering Mothers with Newborns) is a specialized program that helps pregnant women with Substance Use Disorders (such as opioid or methamphetamine use) build positive behavior that supports successful recovery before and after the birth of their child.
The program helps connect mothers with treatment and maternal health resources with goals of improving birth outcomes, reducing the risk and adverse complications of prenatal substance exposure for both mothers and newborns, and helping families stay together.
ReNew offers a team of trusted people who provide support beyond just rehabilitation by partnering with child welfare, medical, and substance abuse treatment facilities. By using evidence-based models and practices, this team helps guide mothers through housing issues, legal obligations, and more.
